Furoshiki Canvas Spring / Summer 2021
Blanca Miró Skoudy
For the second FUROSHIKI CANVAS project,
LEINWÄNDE collaborated with a Barcelona-based
artist Blanca Miró Skoudy.
In search of sustainable fashion possibilities,
we have looked into Furoshiki,
Japanese wrapping cloth that has been loved
in Japan for centuries.
We reinterpreted it with an artistic twist,
so people living in today's world will also love using it.
The Furoshiki, which can also be used as a large scarf,
is 100% made of silk, which is a natural biodegradable
material and is produced in small lots.
Skoudy has also created a video piece,
which encapsulates the collaboration work.
Enjoy her world of beautiful quirkiness along with the scarf.
Blanca Miró Skoudy is a visual artist who
lives and works in Barcelona.
Her practice encompasses the fields of drawing,
sculpture, design and art direction.
Her works are known for the unmistakable uniqueness
with a touch of Cubist quirkiness.
For this collaboration, Skoudy has exclusively
created a design which features her iconic female figure,
in a relaxed manner in a room.
This reflects the LEIWÄNDE designer's wish to
"express the moods of the spirit of Zen and Tea,
that I have come to cherish even more as
I am spending more time indoors due to COVID-19".
