Recycle Organdy Pleats Series - Design Stories

Whether tucked inside a top or layered on the outside, leinwande's Recycle Organdy Pleats series effortlessly adds a touch of romantic mood to your outfit.

The pleated fabric with a graceful drape made from crisp organdy is creating a uniquely airy texture.

Launched in the 2022 Spring/Summer Collection, it has since become one of leinwande's iconic pieces.

It is not yet known, this item incorporates Japanese-made fabric and is uncompromisingly designed by the designer.

In this article, we delve into the design story behind the Recycle Organdy Pleats series.

Since its beginning, leinwande has always embraced sensuality as a key theme.

While often using sheer fabrics, the designer found that tulle and lace could become overly sweet. So, she teamed up with fabric experts to experiment and ended up creating the charming pleated organdy fabric.

They wanted to give the material a unique character using embossing or pleats. By adding pleats in multiple directions, they achieved the distinctive look.

The base organdy fabric is made with recycled polyester produced in Japan. Using existing stock, there's no need for additional dyeing.

This polyester fabric, known for its compatibility with processes like pleating, beautifully retains its shape. It's not only used in the Recycle Organdy Pleats series but also in collections like Poko-poko series.

"Creating something original with sustainable new materials."

This philosophy is evident not only in items using recycled polyester but is also a common thread in leinwande's approach to sustainability, seen in pieces like Upcycled Straight Denim.

Recycle Organdy Pleats Dress is a versatile styling piece that effortlessly transitions from casual when layered over a T-shirt or big sweater to elegant when paired with a tailored jacket.

To bring a romantic touch to various daily styles, it was essential to incorporate adjustable shoulder straps.

Therefore, the design features inconspicuous spaghetti straps that can be tied or untied for length adjustment.

A metal tip on the end of the string makes it even more difficult to untie after tying.

Recycle Organdy Pleats Top features leinwande's signature lantern-like puff sleeves that sway with your movement, creating a gentle and airy effect. Rather than crafting the puff sleeves from a solid fabric, leinwande adds a designer's touch with pleats, patchwork on knits, and playful details, making these puff-sleeve items uniquely eye-catching.

While they have previously crafted it in beige, black in the earlier collection, the new addition for the 2024 Spring/Summer Collection is white.

It is a color we haven't explored much before. However, paired with items like the Wide Shaft Boots and Knitted Beach Suits from this season, it adds a subtle delicacy to the styling, bringing a touch of spice to the overall look.

HOW STYLE Recycle Organdy Pleats Dress / Top

The designer at leinwande loves to layer a denim jacket or a tailored jacket over the Recycle Organdy Pleats Dress, paired with short bottoms like shorts or culottes, and added tights or high socks for footwear. Additionally, there are other ways to enjoy different looks, such as layering textures for a casual T-shirt and jeans style or wearing it underneath a cropped top. This piece is essential item if you would like to enjoy various outfits with one item.

Recycle Organdy Pleats Top can be adjusted in volume by rolling up or down the sleeves. It is also recommended as an inner layer for a formal dress.

As the air outside starts to feel more like spring, why not enjoy the textures of the light and airy organdy fabric while exploring the spring streets?
